Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of CLA intake and elastic resistance exercise for 12 weeks on the body composition and visfatin for the obese women in 20s. Methods: 36 obese female college students without experience of workout were categorized into the groups: CLA intake and elastic resistance exercise (C&E; 8), elastic resistance exercise (EX; 9), CLA intake(CLA; 9) and control group (CON; 10). C&E group and LCA group took 3.0 g CLA a day. As for exercise program, CE group and EX group performed elastic exercise 60 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. As dependent variables, weight, fat-free mass, percent body fat percentage and concentration were measured. To identify the difference between groups and the difference between the time of measurement, repeated measure analysis of variance was conducted. Results: The body composition of the group that performed elastic exercise and took CLA at the same time turned into a positive and the concentration of visfatin decreased. However, in the group that has taken only CLA, there was no positive effects on fat-free mass. Conclusion: For obesity prevention and treatment, paralleling exercise and CLA intake is more efficient than CLA intake only. Furthermore, the studies on CKA intake and the factors relating to obesity according to the age and the type of exercise are required. |
