Articles : The Effects of Endurance Exercise and Chitosan Salt on Blood Pressure in Normotensive Rats
Abstract
This study is to execute endurance exercise for 8 weeks and diet with chitosan salt in order to examine the effect that the endurance exercise and the diet with chitosan salt affect on blood pressure in the rats. And then it is to measure blood pressure, blood inorganic ion (Na^(+), Cl^(-)), total cholesterol (TC), and the thickness of aorta wall. Also the endurance exercise was executed by using a treadmill in 10% of gradient at a speed of 17 m/min by three times a week and by 15 minutes a time. As experimental animals, it is to use 42 rats that has the weight of 300±50g and the age of 16 weeks and is maleness Sprangue-Dawely rat. The experiment is divided into a control group (non treatment; n=7), an experimental group Ⅰ (feed diet added 0% commercial salt; n=7), an experimental group Ⅱ (feed diet added 0% commercial salt and endurance exercise; n = 7), an experimental group Ⅲ (feed diet added 3% chitosan salt; n = 7), an experimental group Ⅳ (feed diet added 3% chitosan salt and endurance exercise; n = 7), an experimental group Ⅵ(feed diet added 3% commercial salt; n = 7), and an experimental group Ⅵ (feed diet added 3% commercial salt and endurance; n = 7). As for the change of blood pressure, it presented a trend decreased in the experimental group Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ. In particular, the trend decreased in the experimental N was most prominent. Also, it presented that the endurance exercise and the diet with chitosan salt decreased the blood pressure much significantly in the rats with normal blood pressure (p<0.05). The Na^(+) value among sera increased as an order of an experimental group Ⅴ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ compared with the control group, but there was no statistical significance in the experimental group Ⅳ paralleling the endurance exercise with the diet with chitosan salt (p<0.05). The Cl^(-) value among sera decreased as an order of experimental group Ⅳ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and I compared with the control group, but there was statistical significance in the experimental group Ⅳ paralleling the endurance exercise with the diet with chitosan salt (p<0.05). These results suggest that, it presented that the endurance exercise for 8 weeks and the diet of 3% chitosan salt made the normal rats` blood pressure, blood inorganic ion Cl^(-), and the total blood cholesterol decreased. Therefore, it is considered as the continuous endurance exercise and the proper diet with chitosan salt made the increase of blood pressure controlled.
